WELCOME TO FIDE XXIII CONGRESS LINZ 2008

FIDE – International Federation for European Law (Fédération Internationale pour le Droit Européen) – is an umbrella organisation in which the national Associations for European Law in the EU countries are regular, those in the candidate countries associated members.

The bi-annual FIDE Congresses are a forum for discussion of most recent legal issues of EU and EC law. The organisation of FIDE XXIII Congress has been entrusted to Austria. Linz, capital of Upper Austria, offers only a few months before its inauguration as cultural capital of Europe, a dignified frame for the Congress which will be held, in accordance with the European Court of Justice, from 28 to 31 May 2008.

The Congress is arranged by the Johannes Kepler University of Linz together with the Austrian Association for European Law. President of FIDE and of the Congress is Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Heribert Franz Koeck M.C.L. (Ann Arbor), Director of the University's Institute for European Law and Dean of the Law Faculty; Secretary General of FIDE and of the Congress is Prof. Dr. Margit Maria Karollus LL.M. (Harvard), Deputy Director of the European Law Institute.

Following the tradition of FIDE Congresses, a special programme for accompanying persons will be offered. Pre- and post-convention programmes can be booked separately.
