National Rapporteurs
Deadline for submission of the reports of the national rapporteurs: 30 October 2007.
Guidelines for drafting the reports:
The task of appointing national rapporteurs for the various topics falls to the National Associations for European Law. National Associations are encouraged to proceed with appointments and to pass on the questionnaires forthwith, in order to give their national rapporteurs sufficient time to prepare their respective national reports. National Associations are also kindly requested to communicate to the Presidency of FIDE the names of their national rapporteurs together with all other pertinent information (especially mail and email addresses, telephone and fax numbers.)
National rapporteurs are invited to take into account the following recommendations:
- Following existing usage, general and national reports will be published already before the Congress and are intended to serve there as the basis of the discussion to be held in the respecting working groups. For this reason, national reports will have to be handed in no later than the dead-line set below in order to permit general rapporteurs to finish their reports in time.
- In order to facilitate the preparation of a publishable master copy, national rapporteurs are encouraged to hand in their reports in the required form. A guideline for correctly formatting national reports is sent to the national rapporteurs in due course.
- National rapporteurs are free to choose, for the drawing up of their report, one of the working languages of FIDE.
- National reports should be comprehensive but should not exceed 30 pages, including footnotes. The just-mentioned guideline contains all pertinent details.
- The questionnaires are meant to be self-explaining and to leave sufficient discretion to national rapporteurs. However, should a national rapporteur believe that additional enlightenment by the general rapporteur would be desirable she or he may direct a request to him via the Presidency of FIDE. All questions and the related answers will be passed on immediately to their respective addressees.
- By an understanding reached with the general rapporteurs, the dead-line for handing in national reports is set for 30 October 2007. National rapporteurs are kindly requested to observe this deadline. It cannot be guaranteed either, that general rapporteurs will be able to take account, in preparing their own reports, of national reports handed in belatedly or that it will be possible to include them in the publications of the Congress.
